Happy fall!

It’s hard to believe, but we’re only a few weeks away from the 2021 Pepperpot Awards! The awards will be held on the evening of December 1 at The Lucy in Philadelphia. After last year’s virtual event, we are excited to gather in-person to celebrate this year, along with the proper protocols. All guests must show proof of vaccination and wear masks at all times (except when eating or drinking).

The Pepperpot Awards have become a long-standing tradition for Philadelphia-area PR professionals to join in recognizing the top PR campaigns, tactics, and professionals. Together, we will celebrate the winners representing excellence in our communications and public relations community. For more information and to register for the event, click here.

There is other exciting news happening on the PRSA front. The Philadelphia chapter of PRSA will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2022. This year-long celebration will honor the chapter’s history, leaders and members. It will be filled with proclamations, news features, special events, a branding campaign, and much more.

The board has assembled a committee to plan and produce the events. If you are interested in volunteering to join the committee, please contact me directly at michele_besso@yahoo.com

To kick off the celebration, we are conducting a 70th anniversary logo design contest. The winning submission will be featured on the chapter website and in our newsletter, media releases, print materials, and even next year’s Pepperpot Awards materials.

To enter, please submit you design concepts to michele_besso@yahoo.com by December 17. The logo must contain our chapter name and the words “70th Anniversary.” Please submit your entry in .jpeg and .png format and create both a color version and a black and white version.

Our 50th anniversary was a big success. PRSA Philly hosted a year-long celebration. We hope to replicate that as much as possible in 2022 to honor the chapter. Let’s make this anniversary even more memorable.

We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our PR and Communications colleagues.
Attendees will enjoy a cocktail reception, seated dinner, and open bar as we recognize the winners.

There are still a few days left to nominate a PR or Communications colleague for an Individual Achievement Award. Recognize members of our industry who have gone above and beyond – as a student leader, a writer, or a person invested in not-for-profits. Nominations must be received by Monday, November 8.

Recipients will be honored and receive their awards at the upcoming Pepperpot Awards on December 1.

Achievement Award Categories

Anthony Fulginiti Award for Commitment to Education - Mentoring / teaching, helping shape the careers of future PR pro or support PRSSA.
Maxine Elkin Award for Distinguished Service - Passion for PR, in the field of media relations, through leadership, professionalism and integrity.
Frank X. Long Award for Excellence in Writing - A PR pro who practices and professes a passion & excellence in writing & creativity.
DeAnn White Award for Excellence in Community Service - Work of a Philadelphia PRSA member who uses PR in community service & volunteerism.
Anne Sceia Klein Award for Professional Promise - A college junior or senior who is a member of a PRSSA chapter.

Additional details about these categories can be found in the Call for Entries document. Nominations are FREE, require fewer than 500 words, and can be made via Individual Achievement Awards form.
